Telling Stories: Margate is a touring group exhibition with Alexander Brattell Sinéid Codd Dawn Cole Martin Everett Cathryn Kemp Louise Kenward Lucinda Wells "We all tell stories, whether we want to or not.
Conversely, we all have a story to tell which is woven into our subconscious mind, our version of our past and our expectations of our future.
What then happens when we allow this space to grow and develop? When we suggest rather than inform, propose rather than deal in certainty? And how then do we separate the artist from the artwork, the narrative from its narration?
The seven artists of Telling Stories: Margate bring together nascent explorations into these ideas; probing this place where fact meets fiction, where stories become lies, where the told becomes the suggested and untold.
Their resulting visual dialogue speaks as much of the silence between image, artist and viewer as of the noise of interpretation. We hope they find answers to the questions they pose – but the response itself will always be enough." Curator/Artist Cathryn Kemp
"Don’t forget to visit the Ernst Haas “Color Correction” exhibition at Atlas, London (www.atlasgallery.com) ends Oct. 22nd. Haas’ sublime colour visuals seduced me into a state of bliss for days". (from Grace)
