New and forthcoming international shows include 'Once upon a time' - 'Fantastic narratives of contemporary video' at Deutsche Guggenheim. "Once Upon a Time features a selection of video installations and single-channel works by Francis Alÿs, Cao Fei, Pierre Huyghe, Aleksandra Mir, Mika Rottenberg, and Janaina Tschäpe from the collection of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum that explore this practice in contemporary art." Opens 8th July and can be seen through the summer until 9th October.
'Peep Hole' continues to show in Milan for another week - runs until 15th July - "In the context of the project Six Ways to Sunday, Peep-Hole presents Contemporary Art Centre, Vilnius: Sleeper. An exhibition as a house observed by an animal from a shadow of a forest, cars passing by. A collection of works by Dalia Dudenaite and Elena Narbutaite"
London Street Photography Festival continues throughout July. The winners and finalists and their photographs can be found here in the first International Street Photography Awards.
Highlights include:VIVIAN MAIER: A Life Uncovered "The festival is delighted to present the first UK exhibition of Chicago nanny VIVIAN MAIER. The exhibition contains 48 images as well as 8mm films made by the artist in one of London's best kept secrets, the German Gymnasium. The exhibition runs from 1 to 24 July 2011. Visitor information "Chicago nanny Vivian Maier died in 2009, leaving behind 100,000 negatives that no one but she had ever seen. Her work was discovered by chance, and now the photographs she took on her days off are being hailed as 'ranking up there' with the best in 20th-century street photography" - Hermione Hoby, the Guardian newspaper"
Another great show is Eyewitness: Hungarian photography in the 20th Century at The Royal Academy. Open until 2nd October, the exhibition "celebrates the work of the five innovative Hungarian émigré photographers, Brassaï, Robert Capa, André Kertész, László Moholy-Nagy and Martin Munkácsi, and the vibrant photographic tradition that shaped them. Approximately 200 photographs are on display in this exhibition, organised on the occasion of Hungary's presidency of the EU."
