John Anthony Altered Light, 2014

Strange things happen since October, those were the words that once appeared in my sleeping mind while I was dreaming about being in an incredible, underwater magic chamber. The scene like from a famous book by Jules Verne's A Journey to the Center of the Earth. And indeed, these intriguing words carry some important message I have been trying to figure out since the time I first saw them in my dream.

Several months ago, a UK writer got in touch with me asking for licencing my photography. He was looking for images that would suit for the cover of his spiritual book he was writting at the time. He come across my inner light photography website and then mailed to me. That was John Anthony and that was October 2013. Since then we have been writing several times to each other. John was so generous to send me the excerpt of his book before it was published and let me be one of the book's first readers. I am very apprecitive and feel deeply honoured with John's trust.

The book Altered Light was published at the begining of March, 2014. Although my photography has not been selected for the cover (editor's choice) John once again was very generous and send me a signed copy of his beautiful and very special book, which I have now in my hands. What strikes me most from the very first lines of the book is incredibly strong, positive energy that flows from it like a huge fountain splashing its water around. Honestly, I have never felt anything like that concerning books.

The excerpt at the beginning of this post, beautiful and bringing peace at heart, comes from John Anthony's spiritual book called Altered Light, which I have pleasure and honour to share with you.

Altered Light is a story of now and of forever. What is happening to us and our world and why? Massive changes occurring on a global scale have seen our ways of living transformed in just a few decades. Is this all caused by human activity or is there a bigger picture we are not seeing? The Amusement Park

In the amusement park,
On the carousel of life
Turning at a dizzying pace,
You are searching happy faces in vain.

Everyone in a rat race,
More and more,
Faster and faster.
The small amusement park
Is swarming with clowns,
trying to entertain those
Who have no reason to laugh.

Makeup faces, Mask faces.
They express everything but not themselves.
True feelings, thoughts and desires
So well hidden,
That you can’t notice them anymore.

In the curved mirror of illusion
We build our “happiness”.

Inspirational - Saved Soul

Believe it or not, my 4-leg friends, Bari and Uzi (their photos below), saved my broken soul several years ago. I was in deep despair and depression after my dark period. At that time, between 2003-2006, I was able to notice only the worst things in this world, nothing seemed good for me.

When the dogs appeared in our family, they've made us regularly go for a walk out to the wood. Observing them, their happiness at simplest pleasures, no matter how bad the weather was, made me realise that there are countless reasons to be happy, even if nothing particular changed in my life. I have found big pleasure in observing well-known spots, how they change at certain days, seasons, weather conditions, etc. When not

disturbed by noise and people, I also noticed almost mystic beauty in ordinary things, common looking trees, wild flowers and such. Catching their elusive beauty became my artistic obsession. The three images below depict exactly the same trees I shot at different angles and different seasons trying to convey mood and feelings they have evoked in me.

Words

Countless as the drops of rain
Swept by a wind
like autumn leaves,
Words, invisible,
Living for fractions of seconds
In an undefined space.



What a power is hidden behind them,
Mysterious force,
Which creates worlds so beautiful
and delicate
like a cobweb sprinkled with rain
in the sun beams.
Yet, at the same time,
In one brief moment
Can turn them to dust,
to nothingness, to hell?

The word, one little word
Can turn a happy man paradise
Into the hell of perpetually dying love.

Beautiful Ugliness

Generally, I love shooting beautiful landscapes, plants, flowers, etc, but I feel some special bond to things that are abandoned; things that are considered ugly and useless. This kind of interest developed gradually, while I have been travelling around a country with my beloved Andrew, who is a realtor and for his job he often makes business trips. Me?:) ... taking advantage of the opportunity and taking my camera with me for shooting unexpected treasures human dwellings unveil in front of us.

I have even created a series of works in my portfolio I call Realtor's Journal where there are some of my ugly discoveries. Some of them stole my heart, like the disappearing house in the photo below that is almost devoured by growing plants around it and from the inside. Looking at what is left from the house, once populated by an ordinary family with its joys and sorrows, makes me think of unknown people, makes me ponder on time elapsing, on how fragile our life is. I have impression that people leave some sort of presence in all the places they used to be. I feel that their thouhts and feelings, their energy still wander there. Although empty, abandoned, these places have lots of life for me. It is what I try to show in my photography.

These unique feeling of invisible presence that comes with a beam of sun sliding over a texture of a wooden fence or door, or a small flower growing between rocks. Almost everything brings life and human faces into my mind.

Words of Wisdom - Another Perspective

For a year or more I have been subcsribed to Arina's Self Help Blog from which I receive daily a new quote by famous people. Today's words of wisdom are as follow:

You've got a lot of choices. If getting out of bed in the morning is a chore and you're not smiling on a regular basis, try another choice.

These words impressed me in particular as they coincide with my current situation.  Several days ago, after an accident while walking in a woods with my dogs, I broke my right leg (ankle in fact) so badly that in a second my life turned upside down. From a very active person I was until that day, I am now constantly in bed, unfortuantelly in pain too, as the operated leg aches badly. Well, what a different perspective of life when each movement is like climbing Mont Everest, all the problems, concerns that were before accident seem to be nothing now. It is not that I was complaining much about life before the accident, yet now I have realized that I wasn't grateful enough for all I have, for all my life so far.

I know that every cloud has a silver lining and what happened to me is for my personal growth. Dealing with difificulties of ordinary activities, learning who is your true friend, I am listening carefully to my inner voice what it is going to tell me. Not being able to create photographs with my hands I have lots of time to create with my mind:)

If you are the one who suffer somehow, do remember 'every cloud ...":)

Flower Photography - Hidden in Rocks, Flowers and Clouds

'Hidden In Rocks, Flowers and Clouds' may well be a title for a new series of works I would focus on soon. Maybe? Yet, for a while, I want to jot down just a few words about simple, ordinary clivia flower the photo of which you may see here. This is a child-flower which originates from the one that was planted and cared by my grandmother. Probably nothing special, but my beloved grandma died almost 40 years ago and
the plant is only one material thing that is left after her. The flower must sense my special feelings I pay to it as this year it was in bloom twice in the course of 3 months, which according to specialists in gardening shouldn't happen. I like thinking that some energy of my wonderful grandma is hidden in the plant:) and she speaks to me this way:) She always was very loving, warm, positive thinking person, who liked joking and making small gifts to children. Never complained. Just perfect grandma:)

The Beauty is Where Nobody Sees It

Seemingly, everone knows that true beauty is the question of inner quality rather than outward features. But in reality, we all, like children, get excited while looking at obvious beauty of flowers or sunsets. Nothing strange, as they are really awesome, stunning, gorgeus. Yet, it's a pity that so few of us is able to notice hidden beauty in ordinary things. For me, the whole natural world has a lot of treasures to offer us. It depends on our sensivity and awareness, whether we are open to take the gift.

The photos below I have chosen to show what I am writing about.
Orchids undoubtedly stand for  the outward beauty. While the pansies? Well, they are nice (I presonally like them very much) but believe me, the place I have seen them and taken the photo was so common, ordinary, not to say dirty. Nobody would notice these humble flowers fighting for life. For me, both kinds of flowers have their own dignity.

The Best Univeristy in the World

Doing housework always makes me philosopihical. It is the right time to lead  a wise conversation with my own thoughts about most vital issues. Today, while washing up I realized that life is the best univeristy (not a break-through discovery) in the world, where only the strongest and most passionate pass exams with highest grades. As far as I remember, I have been learning all my life. Each experience, either a significant or a minor one, brought a one step-up-to-wisdom touch to me. And following Wayne Dyer's quote that Heaven on Earth is a choice you must make, not a place you must find, I try everyday to create my

own heaven. Since I left behind my full-time teaching job and focus on my art work development, I truly experience heaven on earth. It doesn't mean that everything goes smoothly and that I lead a carefree life. But occuring problems belong to physical world domain, while spiritual and emotional part of me is perfectly balanced, peacuful, happy. I wish all people could experience such unity with the eternal I feel. Yet, this wonderful state of bliss is not a gift from fate. It is what I have worked on for more than 20 years. I try to share my experience with others via my art, photography, poetry (so far, in Polish only) and life coaching (I help my friends, colleagues, mates and acquintances).

Life Saying for a New Year

I have had a dream today in which a sudden thought or idea dawned on me. It was just one sentence. Let me quote it don't focus on what you desire in your life, but focus on and devote to what you already have. It makes me think over my New Year resolutions. As I am always looking for opportunities to improve my inner life, spiritual living and at the same time not loosing touch with reality, thus the dream is a message for me. I have realized that next year I have to set my heart on what I already have; I mean my art, knowledge, skills, my dear relatives and friends, and many
more. I am really grateful for all I have. I know that everything I desire will come effortlessly. So far, life has been very generous to me and gave me a lot of good things and bad, as well. Both, equally important for my inner growing up.

I like today's dream message and that is why I have started this blog. I want to share my deep love to meaningful living with other people, my love to art, nature and widely understood creativity. I strongly believe that life is what we make them to be. Moreover, I believe that our knowledge defines the boundaries of our perception. For that I am going to write in this blog about things and ways that may help to expand these boundaries. I call these by general term THE LANGUAGE OF ART.
